FYI. I think the S/W capitalized was 17.6 million 1998, 13.5 in 1997, and 12.2 in 1996. Following this trend, I roughly estimate the 1.60 for 1999 should be reduced to about 1.35 if 1999 was expensed. But of course the depreciation of the stuff from previous years reduces earnings for 1999 and is factored into the 1.60 I suppose. I think SE is wasting a lot of accountants time doing this. What if an auditor asked for a real world justification for knowing what the life time of Gentran Server is? Nobody could possibly answer that question without winging it.

Dear SE. Expense S/W in full and fix things up. This is ridiculous.
