"Looks to me like High Heat Baseball is a better game than I thought."

Maybe not. Never second guess yourself b/c of a 3DO press release....the last thing to rely on.

Awards from:
"1998 Game of the Year, from "The Perfect Game" Web site"
-anyone know of this site. After a search using hotbot.com I came up with www.perfectgame.org which is a baseball/softball club.
-why didn't the press release give the web site address as they did with War Zone
-probably true (game of the year) but I think very misleading as to the accolades of the industry (not a surprise given 3DO's historical press release activity)

Warzone.com
-never heard of the site....but again, 3 or 4 of the awards from one site
-carries absolutely no weight given the great number of web pages
-personal type websites (although it is ran as a group of websites) always lead themselves to suspicion as to what is occurring in the background....there are examples of such background activity amongst PC Hardware sites

"In the last month, "Oscar season" for video games has begun for annual awards and so far High Heat Baseball 1999 has "shut out" its competition and won six awards from various organizations and publications for 1998 Game of The Year."

Overall....if the game had been so fantastic, they certainly could have found better support than the few obscure sources they use. For an honest look at High Heat baseball, just browse various, popular, websites and gaming magazines....most of them scored High Heat well below many other PC baseball magazines.
