fter 25 years of teaching women-only classes at Boston College

Conservative has a couple of meanings and they get blurred. One is the political spectrum. The other is variations on set in their ways or unwilling to explore new ideas or change to meet new environemnts. I know lots of liberals who are conservative. It's not a bad thing. Such people act as a repository of the past, what has worked and what hasn't. You have probably guessed that I am a fan of diversity. This does not just mean different skin colors or national origin. It means different ideas. I just don't like it when a group tries to compel everyone else to conform to their ideas.
I don't know much about this case but my knee-jerk reaction is that if guys want to take the course to learn something (and not just to disrupt the class) I think they should be allowed.

I don't understand this at all. Aren't Wellesley and Smith still women only colleges? I thought it was ok to remain single sex as long as you don't receive some percentage of federal funding. For example the Citadel had to accept women but only because they are a recipient of government $$.
