Gizelle,

I don't think the MACD is doing it. I give credit to analyst upgrades.

I am of the school of thought which believes that stocks trade on technicals when there is no fundamental (ie news) change. In other words, any sort of news which comes out is likely to blow away any which have formed.

Everyone was talking H&S on AMZN a little while ago, but with the analyst upgrades and the drugstore.com news, I don't see anything confirming the H&S pattern.

Similar thing with resistance, support.. if news comes out, you can kiss your technical levels goodbye.

So, to make a long story short, I don't really pay much attention to the MACD, but more to analyst recommendations, press release hype, and external factors like the broader market and (recently) the bond.

I'm short term (1-2 days) bearish, midterm (1-2 weeks) bullish.

James.
