Hi Doughboy,
I have heard that the Funds want to have a clean break between quarters and years for their reports to their holders. You will notice that a lot of stocks will have increased activity at the end of the 4 quarters, and this is due to the funds finalizing their expenses and their holdings.
Since WPI is such a good holding, I think they sell it off at the end of the year in order to plug in the profits on their books and then turn around and buy it back for the next year. Makes sense to me, huh?
There is(are) some funds selling right now which I can't explain. There is some noise about a problem with Vicodin and some letters from the FDA but I suspect that the problem will be resolved and the stock will soar back up. (I hope)
By the way, where are you in the USA? (I'm in Monrovia, CA)
Best to you,
Adelle
