OT - CSCO CFO says what??? (Just for kicks.) See #reply-8035767 Continued strong growth in enterprise (30%) Continued strong growth??? As I recall, they had a little market share shrinkage problem last quarter. And didnt a D' Oro report just come out that confirmed a continuing demise of yesterday's gorilla? I think we know what is really continuing. Kinda like skiing, it's all downhill from here. Alcatel business may return to Cisco. Alcatel announced a partnership with Ascend in the service provide space, but after Lucent linked up with Ascend, Alcatel may again return to the Cisco fold. Important relationship to bid on big service provider projects. CSCO needs ASND's old girlfriends to stay alive! HA! Oooo... Alcatel. Got me shakin' in my boots. "Yes Mr. Big Foreign Telephone Company, our stuff works because Alcatel says so!" Cisco is preparing for day when SEC will not allow writing off in-process R&D. Currently Cisco writes off about 60-70% of a deal. The mergers in the pipeline should not be affected by new rules because SEC pre-approved them. Heck, the SEC gives breaks to the big guys all the time! When your CSCO you get special status and privileges that weenie companies like ASND dont. Somewhere, over the rainbow, rules will change. Cisco has instituted system to track business on a daily basis. Only four executives will be able to track all segments (incl. Chambers and CFO Carter). The other two are Bill Gates and INTC's CEO.
