Thread should have been active today - everything pretty much tanked and only some came back. In the go figure category (i just sent an e-mail to rande is about the scammy awards he's hosting tonight at 9 pm on his thread) ABTEE. Yesterday it should have gone down with the negative stuff thrown at it. Today it should have gone up with the 10K, Worldcom stake. Go figure.

I wouldn't complain about a quiet thread. Sometimes less is more.

Has anyone seen the Tokyo Mex thread lately? I'm sure you have.

Good evening everyone!

Dow Jones Industrials 9366.34
Nasdaq Comp 2326.53

In today's market, the Dow was down 33 points and the Nasdaq was down 13 points. But these numbers don't tell the real story. The true story is that the declining stocks far outnumbered advancing stocks on the New York Exchange, actually by 1100. And on the Nasdaq there were 900 more declines than advances. The Two-second Indicator recorded about 135 stocks hitting new lows for the day. This is not a pretty picture. In fact, it's a weakening market that could get a lot worse before it gets better.

You've worked hard to build up your portfolio and make it grow. But now is not the time to be buying stocks. Instead, it's time to play the defensive game, and we hope you have already started. Work hard to cut any losses short. Limit your losses to a maximum of 15%. We are now advocating that you have 40% to 50% of your portfolio in cash on the sidelines waiting for Cabot's new buy signal. And that new buy signal will surely come, and probably when we least expect it and the news is the worst.

Cabot's Model Portfolio is now 42% in cash, and the eight remaining stocks are rated hold. They are Amazon.com, Dell Computer, EMC, MedImmune,MindSpring, Qwest Communications, Charles Schwab and Yahoo.
