All - AMD chips knock Intel off the block
26 AMD [external] AMD beat Intel in desktop chip sales during January

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- In a first for Advanced Micro Devices, the chipmaker sold more desktop PC processors than Intel during January, according to an industry survey released Friday.


AMD (AMD)'s AMD-K6 processors accounted for 43.9 percent of all desktop PC chip sales, PC Data said. Intel (INTC) had a 40.3 percent share of unit sales and Cyrix had a 15.8 percent share.

On a day in which most tech shares fell, Intel's stock tumbled 7 13/16 to 119 15/16. AMD shares were flat at 18 1/8.
