Danny,
I think someone was toying with you to-day.I can see how a person can go back and edit or even erase a message but a couple of things bother me with to-days fiasco.I have to say this and move on with stock talk.
On SI when I applied for my life membership i had to use three different versions of my real name before I was accepted.i.e.first initial, second initial, last name etc. The reason was the other names like mine were used.(It was later I changed to Osprey by e-mailing Jill at SI and it took 24 hours but the name was changed)
I can't see how a person can use your name after being a member for one day.I can't see how SI would have approved it.I can see how the post was edited.I cannot see how a name change can be effected within five minutes via SI.
This leads me to three possible scenario's.One is the person joined and edited their profile, posted and changed it back before any posting was done, the second is someone knows how to hack into SI and alter the ID or thirdly someone from SI was involved.I prefer not to think the third was the case but for purposes of finding answers it must be considered.
What could the motives be?

1)To capitalize on your new found exposure and following.
2)To attempt to destroy your credibility by impersonating you.
3)An attempt to show the effect you have to someone else for whatever reason they may have for doing so.

I think that people will be more cautious with what is posted by you and perhaps this incident will help to make people aware that doing your own DD first is the best route to go.Remember, two things motivate the market.......Greed and Fear. Both can be our own worst enemy if we haven't done our homework.

I hope you also take the time to e-mail Bob or Jill for an explanation of why someone was allowed to post under your name. Also find out what safegaurds are in place to prevent this from happening again here on SI..

Good Luck
THE OSPREY

Dan - just catching up on what happened here today. It's very unfortunate and it must be annoying for you.

Don't let them get you down - you're better than them.

David.

Daniel,Whoever did that impersonation of you today was very stupid. If they had been smart they would have waited until your next pick was due to come out.Everyone Knew that you were not making a new pick today so we should have known better. The only thing that we need to do is make sure it cant happen when the next pick is due to come out.I am sure that you are trying to figure that one out already, have you got any ideas yet?
