Black labs are called belly button dogs- everyone has one. I've had a couple of old retrievers, they love current. They get in and swim without going anywhere. Must help their hips. Most retrievers love coming up with rocks. I had a young lab that I took hunting. I shot a duck that sailed and dove. A dying duck will grab a plant and drown staying several feet under the water. Anyway I took him in a boat to look for the bird and he jumped out of the boat and dove under the water. Came up with the duck. How? I don't know.
