Regarding the log-on portion of your question, I found I did not have to re-log into SI if I did not shut off my netscape browser.
otherwise I did.

Cara,
They could be using 'cookies' and thus when you log on, they've
already got your information from the last time you logged in.
This is a pretty common occurance I belive. The cookie is sitting
in one of your internet directories. Through your browser you have
the ability to disable this if you feel it's an invasion of your
privacy. On the other hand you might feel it's a convenience.

Cara,

I just want to explain to you why sometimes when you log in, SI asks for your password and sometimes not.

If I remember correctly, you have cable access which means that you leave your system on for 24 hours a day. This leads to certain applications not being closed (example Netscape) so you can check SI tomorrow.

Internet browsers are getting "smart". Instead of asking for your log in info every time your press on the next button, it will remember your username and password. When SI asks for it (every time you hit next), your computer gives out the info and you can see the page.

Now, when you shut down your internet browser, all this personal info on you is "forgotten". If you wish to relog on SI's server, you need to reenter your username and password. Your browser will remember all this info up until the point you decide to close the application and it will forget.

This has happened to me several times. Even though I get off the net (28.8 modem), I do not close my computer (nor Netscape) so that I will not have to reenter all my info every time I want to check my bookmarks!

Please try it (closing and opening your browser) and let me know if it works (it should).

All this said, I do not think SI has a problem in that area. My opinion of today's fiasco is that a hacker got into the system, overrided the security feature that does not allow for duplicate names and posted as Daniel Miller. This is definitely fraud! I think we should all complain to SI, and SI only!!! We need a report on what happened and how come many of us (including I) saw a DM Fake and a Daniel Miller (fake) being the same person, changing his/her username within 5 minutes (it takes the webmistress 24hours to do so) and delete all posts from 12:00-12:27 (I ACCESSED SI FROM SCHOOL AND I SAW THE POSTS!!!!!!!!!!!)....
