" You want to buy 1000 shares of fast market. You call the broker, give him the order. The broker then looks up your account number, writes the ticket (manually), then walks it up to the order cage. The order clerk types it in and gives a fill about a minute later. " They still have wire clerks? My God,we had one of those back in 1980.

Gary, Great post, imo you've hit the nail squarely on the head. I keep looking for some leadership from the online brokers to counter act all of this negative bs being pushed out there. I certainly don't want a bunch of politician's seeing this as an opportunity to get re-elected. I can understand brokers being upset losing some of their best customers to daytrading & online firms. But the internet brings the future & the future involves change. The best service at a low price will determine the winner's. JC
