<<You can short SPY on a downtick on Datek - I've done it.>>

Today, I even shorted AMTD at a downtick (limit order). Unfortunately, it was my mistake. I actually intended to buy long. As soon as I hit the "enter order" button, I realized the mistake, so I stopped the browser. But one second later, I got the confirmation. Even though this was my mistake, this still smelled fishy. Because that was almost a day low price.

So my conclusion is that for Datek, if somebody is stupid enough (or unintentionally make a mistake), to short a stock at a day low price it will be executed even if it is downtick.
