THE BULL MARKET REPORTâ„¢ for THURSDAY, February25, 1999

"$$$$$ LINUX VS WIN98/2000 (NT) DEPARTMENTFrom: Jeff E. Nadler

Subject: RE: THE BULL MARKET REPORT for MONDAY,Feb. 22, 1999Hi Todd,
I'm an Information Systems Consultant and loyalBMR reader. I've read with
interest your reports of the IBM decision to sellLinux machines, and the
threat this may pose to Microsoft.
Please let me assure you that this is in NO WAY adanger to Microsoft.
While Linux is in some technical ways superior toany Windows product, it is
50 times more difficult to use and maintain. Theaverage computer user is
really not even close to being ready for thistype of challenge! I think if
you take an old computer you have lying aroundand try to download and
install Linux, you will see what I mean. Notuser friendly, and no threatto MS.
Besides, just try to find a good Linuxspreadsheet to track yourinvestments!

COMMENT: More in the series on whether Linuxwill become a threat to
Microsoft. You appear pretty certain that thiswill pose little threat to
Bill and Co. Jeff, thanks for your input."

He is talking about Unix.

(have you ever tried to run a program written for HP Unix on a Sun workstation?......I did....perhaps this is possible now, when I was in the situation, it wasn't....... So I bought a overpriced HP machine because I wanted the software.......That time I made a decision : in the future, I ONLY will by software running on Windows or NT....... my will to do so got strong support when I tried to work with this Unix)

Martin

HP, Sun and others will do this with Linux also (create non compatible derivates) , if they get the chance to.

IMHO
