Don, let me clarify my comment there is excess manufacturing capacity on a global scale. I recall reading an article in the Economist ( I think) where this topic was discussed at length. I do recall GE's Jack Welch making similar comments somewhere in print. There is excess capacity in steel, autos, semiconductors, aero space, defense and more Many service industries provide services to manufacturing. These statements are based upon my reading for personal use so I don't keep files I that wish i had stronger references on hand but I don't. Mike
