How do you get a company, like DGIV all fired up and working as a good team? Here is what one little company is doing:

Come and join us for a weekend of fun in the North Georgia Mountains. Brasstown Valley Resort... The place to be this weekend for a fun workshop weekend. Everyone's invited! Come on up to Young Harris, GA 30582.

This outline will help you organize your thoughts for the workshop about the way your company is organized and your intent for its future. In the workshop you will be asked to contribute your ideas for establishing the conditions necessary for the company, and you as an individual, to succeed. The first step to your success is to set the direction for the organization, and to agree on a set of "ground rules." Your answers to the questions that follow will help you participate when we discuss the issues as a group. Be as creative as you wish - and have fun!

A. Who are we as a company?
.......Why do we exist?
.......What customer needs do we meet?
.......What do we stand for? What values do we represent through our services and products?

B. What do we wish to achieve as a company?
.......What is our social objective -- how will our customers and our community benefit from our presence?
.......What is our business(financial)objective -- our plan for continuing?
.......What our our personal objectives -- our personal rewards for our efforts?

C. What makes our company unique?
.......How are we different from other companies that do what we do?
.......What is our identity -- our public name?
.......What message does our name send out ot potential customers and others who don't already know us?
.......How well does our name convey what we do? Does our name "showcase" our services and products?

D. What is our core business?
.......At what are we most successful?
.......How do customers benefit from what we do well?

E. Who are our customer? (by category and by name)
.......Who is most likely to purchase our services or products?
.......How can we identify potential customers?
.......How can we attract potential customers?
.......How can we make it EASY for customers to buy our services or products?

F. Who are our competitors? (by category and by name)
.......Where will potential customer go if they don't come to us?
.......What about our competitors is more appealing to customers?
.......How do we win customers away from our competitors?

This is just a list of things the Management of any small company should be asking themselves, and everyone in the company needs to be reading from the same sheet of music. A weekend retreat with families is one good way to implement just such a meeting. IMO
