PC: Intel has demonstrated a version of Pentium III running at 1Ghz,
reports The New York Times On The Web. The processor giant has been
careful, however, to state that commercial versions running at this
phenomonal speed will not be available until the end of next year, and
possibly not till 2000. "This is a technology demonstration," said
Intel's Albert Yu. "It is not what I would recommend for people to do in
their homes." A billion operations a second? Where will it all end...
