I am having better success in getting shares if I put in a short sell limit order for my best target, then lowering that limit to when the shares are above the price.

For example my target is 20, but the stock is at 19 So I put in an order for 20. Let it sit and watch the price, see the stock start to climb 19 5/8, then put in a change order to 19 5/8, stock climbs more and I get the fill at 19 3/4.

Obviously this is for online, what I am thinking is that the system goes out and tries to secure shares, but it uses more time to do it. Maybe it reserves them once found.

Could be nothing, makes no difference, because they always had the shares, but I am trying to use more disipline when entering anyway.
