Not that its any comfort but about 4-5% of the drop can be attrbuted to across the board fall in tech stocks- even IBM down with an analyst's positive recommendation.

Add First Boston to the list of downgrades: Compaq Computer Corp. (CPQ) 41: CS First Boston maintains "buy" rating on computer maker and lowers Q1 EPS estimate due to weaker than expected January as quarter appears to be back-loaded; lowers Q1 from $0.38 to $0.31 and FY99 EPS from $1.75 to $1.70; services business appears to be benefitting from integration, but risk of increased channel friction remains; company plans no conference call is planned to discuss outlook....

El - This is one of two things: Major panic/major buying opp., or CPQ management pulled the wool over our eyes again. I bought 1k @ 35 5/8, so I'm going with the first scenario. But all the downgrades and heavy volume could mean scenario 2. THEY CAN'T BE THAT STUPID!!! What's worse, if scenario 2 is true, it looks like someone leaked it. If this really is another fiasco it would be time to get out for good. Robbie
