For what its worth, my broker agrees that the short time period of the offer (March 3), the relatively low price, and the market discount to the offer means that acceptance is unlikely. On the other hand, its clear that this isn't a merger nor a friendly takeover either. So, assuming that Big Al tells the guys at Philips "hell no", the operative question is what will happen to VLSI's stock price? Back to what it was? I think not. Our friends in NY who took a 6+% position with VLSI didn't accumulate their position to support a less than serious run at the company. I might lighten up a little, but I think I am going to hang around. This isn't over yet.
