ORACLE CORP said that it planned to open its first office in
Belfast, signalling a vote of confidence for the Northern Irish
economy. Oracle, which calls itself the world leader in
information management software, will open a 2,500 square foot
(232 sq metre) office in Belfast to increase support to its
customer base. "The investment represents a vote of confidence in
the Northern Ireland economy," Philip Crawford, senior vice
president Oracle UK and Ireland, said in a statement. Oracle
offers its database, products and support services to some 145
countries in the world and has annual revenues of more than $8.0
billion, the statement said. (Reuters 07:06 AM ET 02/26/99)
