Mary, speaking of Compaq, some posts over on that thread with info that may have some direct bearing on Intel. EP, of course, is Eckhard Pfeiffer, CEO of Compaq. Comment on the second one, maybe Burt is right about the high activity at Dell web sites. Saw another thing, Michael Dell, when asked what the drivers would be for Dell for the next year or two, said the Pentium III and Windows 2000 would be huge.

Back end loaded means that most of CPQ sales for the quarter
will be in March. This is the way it always has been. Also, most
customers have probably been reading Intel's crap on how great
Pentium III is going to be. So they are waiting until March to buy.

Mary:

Intel down 8 at 12:29:06. What you left out is that this whole dip is a "Market Maker" dip. They are about to loose their spread profit to NYSE.

Simular thing happened when the sec picked 150 Nasdaq stock to limit the spread. What was that, about a year ago? It would be interesting to compare. I did a brief analysis at that time but I don't know where it is.

This move, by the NYSE, is geometrically move significant.
