news.com CPQ reportin slow sales, DELL a INTC stronghold reporting a mix of lower margin computers, HWP selling in its business line up CELERON based computers, GATWAY starting to sell K6, K6 coming to the notebook market AMD has its foot in the door with 5 of the 6 top computer makers Now............... the question is not are we gonna see new highs for INTC soon, the question is how low will we go anyone wants to take a guss???????????? canal

OT Thanks Tony for the report on EMC. I didn't see it but read about it in another thread (a FC one). Fibre Channel seems to finally be an exciting thing and not just a fad like some people thought. EMC sounds like they may be the best big FC player and I still don't own any. I dream of cheaper shares and am also beginning to wonder if I will ever see them cheap. I made the mistake of never buying DELL three years ago when I thought along the same lines. ;-( EMC will have further enhancements and product announcements for the SAN world on Monday. Check them out. Not long before the other big boys like IBM, Compaq, HP, Sun, etc... join the party though. Dell announced a Fibre Channel switch this past week and they were the first big tier one to do so for the NT market. cheers, pigboy

OTOTOT Hey Tony, Looks like people are FINALLY starting to realize Fibre Channel and the new Storage Area Network world that is coming (linking up storage as a network and offloading from the LAN traffic). Check out these boys today...QLGC, EMLX, even ANCR the switch maker that has caused me so many heart problems in the past. Wow! A lot of this is coming on the heels of switch maker Brocade (BRCD) going IPO next week out of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, I believe. Strangely, I think EMC may be one of the biggest beneficiaries from FC, but they were down a few today. Does anyone know if Intel has any plans to do with Storage Area Networks?? cheers, pigboy
