ON DELL OPTIONS: Joseph, one thing's for sure, IMHO. I wouldn't trade any contracts that expire before August.

I personally do think you can go wrong buying an August or later call on DELL at the present time (I may be wrong, of course).

I would stay away from anything nearer-term than that due to the uncertainty.

Any appreciation that a March or May call in DELL will have as the result of the split will also be shared by the August calls (and you don't have to hold them until August, as you know.)

You'll also have the benefit (hopefully) of the May and August earnings announcements.

Regards,

LoD

re:dell short run...

no such thing hold forever or until the fundamentals change...be pragmatic...you bought at 88 and feel foolish...thats 44 post split..do you honestly believe dell will never see 44 post split again...doubt it very much, ignore the vagaries of the market..don't try to trade the issue stay long...

ed a.
ps over the past two weeks i went long 1000 x 92.5 and 1000 x 82.5...no regrets, add it to my portfolio and wait for the market mania to change...been there, done that..good luck!

<< Now were do we head as we approach the split? >>>
Only one week after claiming the chip makers were out of the woods, the analysts are telling us how bad it looks for the computer
manufacturers ( because Cpq stuffed the channel)
IMO thats market manipulation and I don't think it will last.
I do not believe (that investors as a whole are so stupid) as to let the price of Dell "get away" at less than that of Cpq after the split.
BWDIK ?
I was looking at a bottom af about $80 on Dell, but now Cpq
is at $35 so Dell could possibly, and temporarily only, get a bit under $80.
These weekly if not daily stock gradings are causing great volatility as opposed to the good old days( when one was lucky to make to make 20 % in one year instead of one day)
So what the H&**, keep the Dell.
