Will I take the bet? NO. I already have a bet on CPQ.

I just looked at the Thompson Institutional Interest ticker. It looks like there is very little selling interest at $35+. There is a lot of buying interest up to $36+. The heavy selling itnerest earlier today was at $36 +.

Don't you think it odd that CPQ would make such a portentous statement to one analyst? Apart from the unfairness to the investors, it is also unfair to the other analysts. My problem with the IR statement is that it might mean nothing at all - January is always slow, this quarter is always backend loaded. So much depends on the context in which it was said.

Having read the ML rationale I am not impressed. This was the guy who panned DELL a few days ago. He sort of hinted then that competition among PC vendors might increase unit sales but depress margins. He did not feel it necessary to say anything specifically negative about CPQ. Yet a couple of days later, on the basis of what CPQ has said to FB he comes out with a theory that it is an industry wide problem.

Howdy El,

Haven't posted for a while since I was down in Ft.Lauderdale for a few days. Well, well, what a day huh? Unlike many of you folks I'm just a dabbler in individual stocks, and as such make my share of mistakes. Perhaps the biggest one ever was not selling this PIG at 50 on 1/27. Instead, I (like many others perhaps) was lulled into believing that $60 was just over the horizon what with that appeared to be a great earnings announcement.

So what's next EP and EM? How many more times will you punish the individual investor? We don't have the benefit of personal meetings with you gentlemen. Rather, we simply rely on what we read and hear in the media, and on our instincts as well. So then, how do you, EM, explain your very recent comments that you were "comfortable with Q1 estimates." What a difference a week makes huh?

So I guess it's hurry up and wait again for us CPQ longs.

Thanks to all for the opportunity to post this diatribe. I feel somewhat better now.

Best regards to all thread regulars,

JMaz

PS: There might be something to the "Kill and Fill" theory posted earlier. Remember, there's still going to be a ton of money hitting the IRAs by 4/15 and it needs to be invested somewhere.

Once I unload my position, it will drop to the 20's. :-)
