Chuzz- CNBC reported that Compaq's earnings for the quarter got cut because Compaq's management told them (I guess in the last couple days) that January (sales) came in below plan..

This certainly takes some of the bloom off the rose that Dell's competitors are catching up (at a rapid rate)...Looks like January was a weak quarter for all......and not a case of others taking (significant share) from Dell......Good news is that Dell has (now) already paid for this weakness in the last earnings period, while others still haven't (in their earnings...)..

Of course, hopefully, February and going forward a different story...
