The reason you can dial a server in Pokeepsie for free is that you dial your isp (local). The server then connects you. RBOCS just won a hearing in the FTC which allows them now to charge the ISP AS IF this were a long distance call under the New Act. If this stands, this cost will now be passed to us. Your government tax dollars at work. Duke

Jeff, Bells win partial victory in ISP ruling <<......At stake are millions of dollars per year paid to small telephone companies under contracts dubbed "reciprocal compensation." ..........
