A@P,

We need to know what you are going to use it for, Are you going to post there about your picks instead of here?
Are you going to make a live chart room there to post your picks in real time?

I think I need to know about your plan in order to give my feedback.

L.

Looks good to me...I assume the frame in the lower left is eventually going to have links to the various law enforcement agencies?

Anthony--The site looks very good, well organized and thought out.
On the negative side it looks like a death knell for the most useful and interesting site on SI.
All the Best
Druss

Like the layout - very easy to follow. Love the quote at top - sounds like you represent the good guys. Only one small criticism (and maybe its only my personal preference) is that with the patterned background, I find the writing a bit of a chore to read. Won't keep me from coming around though ;-)

At last...I can be helpful...with my blue chip "advertising" background. forgive my brutalness

Graphically:
1) unreadable
kill the busy background
pick a less busy font for your type
2) the clip art is horsey,....and redundant
have them just click on the who is anthony button (no need to have two blocks)

Content:
1) like the links to good sources of info
2) like the "reward" aspect of getting tips
3) some kind of "track record" section would be nice
4) signup: need more info on this section.

I'm in a meeting now...will give more feedback later...

By the way...Anthony....I have a surprise for you..if you want
short-sellers.com or sell-short.com or short-seller.com I got them for you....as a present.... was going to give them to you...once I closed my first short position profitably(laugh)..but you are moving pretty fast on that site...

smile...mary

How does one enter site?
Need banner space at top also, for higher rates?
Associate link to AMZN for books on Shorting?

Anthony,
I'm not being a wise ass, I just don't want to rewrite the preceding comments that I agree with. All the negative comments I agree with. They ALL pertained to not being able to read the writing with the background...the white around the letters makes letters look out of focus. All these things are easy to correct. Takes a few seconds. Just as the webmaster to send you a few different choices to pick from. I am not the greatest designer in the world, but I know some. I designed the site www.y2klive.com ---- just take a look at some different options. anyway, anything can always be changed in a minute. Maybe tonight I can do a few different color options and send them to you.... (I just took a look again, and the colors are not good. Not BOLD. They are too pastel for THE TYPE OF TRADING YOU DO.LOL.

Use blue instead of green as dominant color... more synanomous with most people's image of the Pacific Ocean (Anthony@Pacific....San Diego etc.) Also, the color blue is associated with desirable character qualities (truth, strength, loyalty, royalty, etc., etc.).

Website Feedback:

Some notes to forward to your volunteer crew:

1. Webpage has 100K of graphics (compare 7K at SI homepage)

2. Images are large 32-bit (normally used for photo-realistic images)

3. As has already been pointed out, the html should specify the height and width for each individual image (otherwise the browser has to pause and calculate the after downloading).

Opinion: The above features cause the page to be rather slow in loading. I personally like the overall look; stark, with almost a guerilla warfare motif but I can see how that might not be appealing to all and will defer to those with more developed aesthetic sensibilities.

If you are going to spend money on anything, I would rather you get a good messaging system rather than a professionally designed front page with lots of hoohaws and javascript wizardry. The fancy stuff will get old quick since it will be a site that is logged on to regularly by the users. Since it doesn't need to be a corporate image site, speed and simplicity should rule the day.

One reason SI is so good is because a lot of what appears as graphical is really just built in features of the html (e.g., tables and forms). There is not a lot of graphics being downloaded. SI does not need Java, Javascript, or frames. I don't know what a good message database is, I think SI's is home grown, no? It would be good to investigate that because that is where most will spend their time. A good start, I can't wait!

Best,
Jimmy Liberato

As far as web design goes, I like a lot of the content and style of Hal Pawluk's site:

pawluk.com

Mostly, the use of very small, carefully crafted graphics that load in a flash, and convey a clear message. Note how fast and easy it is to blaze through the site, digging out the meat as fast as you want to go.

Another point for your website design:

Obviously, this back-and-forth discussion thread is a central component of how you do what you do with us. Is your web designer planning to enable "threaded discussions", a style of managing and displaying messages where they are organized for viewing by topic and subtopic with associated responses, as well as chronologically?

It would be a huge improvement over what SI does for you here, with all the topics heaped up on one thread.

There are a lot of ways to implement it. Getting it right, and to your liking, would be of huge benefit.

Alan

With the other comments, I also do not like the background find it very hard to read. I suggest that the most simple, cleanest look is most needed. Background should have no graphics. This will keep download speeds quick. Load times during the day will be critical.

Other items for the designer is to make the chat possible through a proxy server.

Looking forwarding to using the finished work.
thanks
