OFF TOPIC!!! ABOUT OTHER STOCKS

On Dec. 14 I posted: ". . . . I sold at 16 1/8, which is about what I got in at. With some of the money I increased my position in IATV, which is behaving nicely today and promises a bit of excitement in the intermediate term. . . I think."

Well, I was subsequently in and out of Radica again but did only a little better than break even. However, my IATV position grew to over 25K with buys from the high 2's to the high 5's, averaging about 4. I believe even more strongly that this stock still has much upside potential ahead.

Dropping the "F" could affect another stock which, after a disappointing year, is turning around and could double or better by Xmas: ECGOF. Expected earnings are $.30 or better for '99 and it's now selling for 1 3/4. People who bought at much, much higher prices are bailing but their selling pressure will be gone soon.

Finally, another stock which has nice earnings and the significant kicker of a compelling story because of its wildly successful skateboard and bicycling arena in Orange County is VANS at 6 3/4. News releases for the past month or so tell the tale, and I expect that the planned expansion of these skateboarding facilities will excite future interest.

It's disheartening to observe that Radica with its prospects and earnings is dead in the water, but there's no way to make the market do what it doesn't want to. Better, I think, to invest where the stories are more likely to energize buyers down the road.
