CompuCom Attains IBM Clear-to-Build
Status; Company Implements New IndustryView for AAP
Software for Channel Assembly

DALLAS, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- CompuCom Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMPC - news), a leading network
integration company, announces it has attained clear-to-build status using IndustryView for AAP for IBM's
(NYSE: IBM - news) memory-less Build From Parts (BFP) channel assembly program. IndustryView for AAP is
a shop floor control software application adapted for use in final assembly programs, which allows CompuCom
greater control of the overall assembly process.

The IndustryView for AAP software was developed by IBM and piloted jointly by CompuCom and IBM as
part of their ongoing efforts to refine final assembly processes. The Java-based program guarantees quality in
the process while retaining flexibility crucial to maximizing the benefits of the BFP process, such as reduced
inventory and labor costs. CompuCom's configuration center in Paulsboro, New Jersey, served as a beta testing
site and provided feedback to the IBM team. The software was modified to include more robust features
required by CompuCom to address technical challenges of the BFP program's high volume, mass customization.
As implemented, the software gives CompuCom full control of the assembly process at the component level, to
include any combination of memory, processor, and other components.

CompuCom's Configuration Centers in Paulsboro, N.J. and Stockton, Calif. are certified in IBM's Authorized
Assembly Program (AAP). The Build From Parts program expands this process by allowing authorized BFP
resellers to install memory on a build-to-order basis according to customer specifications.

''This is a tremendous accomplishment by the IBM and CompuCom teams,'' said Tom Thigpen, Vice President
of North America Manufacturing, Distribution and Fulfillment, Personal Systems Group, IBM. ''CompuCom has
significantly influenced the look, feel and function of IndustryView for AAP. Their ongoing dedication to
this project is a clear indication of their commitment to IBM and the Authorized Assembler Program.''

''CompuCom continues to work closely with IBM to remove costs for our customers,'' commented CompuCom
CEO Ed Anderson. ''Our technical innovations and strong manufacturer relationships reinforce our leadership
position in the effort to re-engineer the channel supply chain. CompuCom is foremost among integrators in
taking advantage of manufacturer programs to increase assembly and distribution efficiency.''
