J (if I may be so intimate):

The b/a sizes that have been in force all week -- today there was one that made me holler: 1 x 999 -- are pure telegraphy. The MMs know Basil's buying pattern by now, and are just waiting with their tin cups out on the last Friday of the month. "Basil, I'll buy 10 shares from you if you buy 9,990 from me." Begs the question:
Q: Why would anyone with that much money tip their hand so obviously?
(A): Because he has a long time-frame?
(B): Because he knowwwwwws something?
(C): Because he's protecting the bid?
(D): Because he's trying to move the market?
In any case, the Buy the Trough, Sell the Basil routine probably isn't going to cut it for us Friday junkies anymore. This might actually turn out to be .... (Arrrrrghghh) an investment. I'll go with (A).
