Matt,

That type of information is simply far too practical and fundamental to be of any use.

Isn't it better to listen to the analysts, or even better, Earl Mason? I mean, if CPQ can't hit there numbers, something must be wrong. It isn't like they have completed any major acquisitions recently ... or that they have any channel conflicts with their move to "Go Direct" ... or that they are always missing earnings numbers ...

Yeah, what you say may be true. So what if there is a shortage of laptop DRAM ... there is so much overcapacity in the industry, that will only last a nanosecond ... before people magically convert .5M capacity to produce SDRAM ... no problem ...

I had a similar experience in 1995 ... its not like the stocks did anything then ...

Portable DRAM Shortage?

Threaders: I was wondering if anyone could confirm Matt's post below ... I called GTW and DELL this morning ... but, humans had not yet arrived in the office ... 800-www-dell ...

This would be a somewhat meaningful tidbit it it were true.

<<A friend just ordered a gateway laptop and was told it would a month
to deliver, because there was a shortage of memory chips. They indicated it was an industry problem not a gateway problem.>>

Matt

Have you confirmed this with Gateway? Have you called Dell?
