>>>I was in a big busy Staples yesterday and I started counting..... Imation over Iomega by a 3-1 margin.<<<

Last week when I was in Best Buy I think SuperDisk was in at least half if not more than half the machines that had a hi-cap floppy device. The NEC machines were the skewing factor.

Imation is making a huge push right now. The next few months will be make or break for them, and by this I mean they will either exist as the second choice or not at all.

Am I a blind Iomega bull no. The machine on my desk has a USB Zip, USB SuperDisk, a clik! a Philips 3610 CD-RW and a high capacity tape. I know them all very well. When I bought my new home system I got an ATAPI Zip for it. Still the best choice. (oh I forgot I also have a 250 Zip but not on-line at the moment) This is not a cRock!

Allen..... maybe couple dozen models on display. About half had built-in high capacity storage.

Zip was in one HP box and two Compaq boxes (neither in the current Presario line-up). SuperD was in most Compaq models on display (all but one under 2K, I think). Also, couple of NEC boxes and one other brand which escapes me. Some IBM on the shelves but don't think that was it.

Not exactly a computer superstore but the closest thing you'll find to a full-line supplier of office supplies and equipment on Hilton Head Island. Doesn't get much better over in Savannah.....the Circuit City over there is below pitiful. Maybe it's happening at Sam's Club or Sears :-).

Regret to also note that first couple months Staples was open they had two really large display areas for removable storage. It was ALL Iomega except the token box or two from competition. The main storage area is now about 25% SuperD.....the smaller display area is now ALL CD product from HP.

Nothing bleeding or even leading edge in these parts but the store is busy and computer section especially busy.

I don't think it's a good sign.

FWIW, I have thousands of IOM shares and no immediate intention to sell. That said, I have serious concerns about Mr. Glore's ability to market a consumer product.....the SIZZLE is history (except on this board).

Best regards & luck - Mike
