To all:

EMC has filed its preliminary proxy statement with the SEC and a very quick, and admittedly skimming, read reveals no big surprises. Its summary paragraph is a follows:

> > > At this meeting you are being asked to elect three Class III members to the Board of Directors for a three-year term and to approve an increase in the number of shares of authorized common stock of the Company, the addition of 8,500,000 shares of common stock to the 1993 Stock Option Plan and the addition of 2,200,000 shares of common stock to the 1989 Employee Stock Purchase Plan.< < <

P.S. FWIW, I am a firm believer that the key to continued, real, sustainable economic growth is productivity. I kind of agree that we really don't know how to measure it; but, if the system is consistent and can measure the important factors (whatever they are), the important thing becomes the trend and its consistency, rather than the specific value of the number itself. Re: Proxy statement

I guess an item of interest from the proxy is that EMC will quadruple its authorized shares from 750MM to 3 Billion. I guess that means that it will not be necessary to go back to the stockholders for authorization for more shares for the next, inevitable split, which I am certain Mike Ruettgers sees as a future certainty <ggg>.
