John, years ago we were led to believe that the Russians were coming, then it was the Iranians, followed by the Iraqis and remember the "Bullies" from Somalia. We beat the crap out of Granada. Now they tell us that the enemy is INFLATION.

I didn't believe them then and I certainly don't believe them now.

Given today's world, what circumstances would lead to inflation?

With free-trade rampant, robotics replacing labor, efficiencies in manufacturing, prices have dropped in almost every industry.

An American worker now has to compete with a Chinese laborer's salary, In this case, do they see inflation occuring?

One thing I learned in my Economics courses is that Economics is not a science...way too many variables to contend with. As far as economists, they will always be there after the fact with their "I told you so's".

PS - IMHO the "problem" is that all their talk is creating the problem. They should maybe learn to shut up for a change and let the most basic principle of economics (and only valid principle) takes its course - ie The Law of Supply and Demand.
