Cat's eye view

Natural scenes reconstructed from the activity of 177 cells in the thalamus region of a cat's brain:

deas.harvard.edu

This page is a summary of the Sep 15 Journal of Neuroscience paper by Stanley, Li and Dan. In the second set of images, each pixel represents a sum of filtered responses from eight neuron cells. The resulting frames are blurry, but "moving objects (tree trunks, branches, and a human face) are discernible in the reconstructed movies." The actual images are shown for comparison.
