Does PowerPoint use floating point instructions? Not likely.

Turning off the FPU is a standard industry technique for showing higher clock speeds. When IBM demoed a 1.2 GHz PowerPC over 12 months ago, they used the same trick.

You are the Intel insider. Check down at HQ and prove to me that I'm wrong.

Better yet. Arrange for a 1GHz demo of Excel calculating a spreadsheet.
