There is of course a buyer for every seller and vice versa. But what we are really talking about is buying pressure or selling pressure (hence the phrase "more sellers than buyers"). So if the stock closed at 5/8 and someone paid 7/8 for a 50k block, then Mr. Big Money was confident enough in AMAT's prospects that he was willing to pay an extra $12,500 beyond the current price, just to be guaranteed the front row seat.

'hope this explains it,
Sun Tzu

IPO's and secondaries have a buyer and a seller, too. The seller is the company (or its underwriter).
