The stock is called Deswell Industries. Symbol (DSWLF) and operates in China. The stock is selling for about $9.00 and change. It earned $2.59 a share in 1998. With the economic situation as it is in Asia, then they are getting hurt some this year but still look like they can do $1.80 or better this year. As of the last financial report which ws recently they had $5.14 a share in cash. They have not long term debt. I think the dividend for 1998 was about $1.00 with the extra that they paid out. They are big on dividends because insiders own many shares and in China dividends are preferred to salaries as it seems they are not taxed as much as salaries. So the executives like to receive the dividends.

You might take a look at it. I know the current Asian Flu situation scares some off and others seemingly do not want any part of a company in a foreign land anyway. But I have followed the company for several years and tend to think it is well managed. It has only been in the last quarter that they have felt any real damage from the Asian slow down, but they only earned $.39 in that quarter compared to $.78 last year in the same quarter.
