Company Profile
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overview
DOCPLUS.NET CORP. (ATYG) based in Alpharetta, Georgia was incorporated in the State of Delaware as a holding company for companies producing innovative solutions to reducing healthcare costs. The primary subsidiary of ATYG is Time Value Corporation, a company founded to produce solutions to preparing required medical documentation and on-line correspondence. This solution is known as DocumentPlus. DocumentPlus is a system designed for the specific purpose of eliminating the overwhelming paperwork burden that plagues the healthcare industry and healthcare providers. Since its introduction to the market in September of 1994, over 700 clinics have successfully installed and are operating the DocumentPlus system in locations throughout the United States, Canada and Australia.
BUSINESS
The revenue producing areas for the DocumentPlus solution are:
1)DocumentPlus System
The management of Time Value Corporation realized early on that there was a need for time-saving applications to assist the medical and healthcare industry in keeping up with the ever-increasing paperwork requirements. After several years of research and development, and expenditures of over $3,800,000 the DocumentPlus System was made available to the marketplace in September 1994. The system is the foundation of all our other products.
DocumentPlus Software There are currently 38 different medical fields that we have determined can benefit from utilizing our software. However, it is necessary that we make ongoing changes, thus refining the current software and developing new individual sub-modules for each medical specialty. Since the release of the first sub-module for spinal clinics, we have continuously upgraded, improved and expanded the system's capabilities. We have added Accident/Injury case management, interfaces with medical practice management software, fully net-workable 16 and 32-bit versions, and made the system year 2000 compliant. The system has also been updated with the new E & M codes and Medicare requirements. We are currently developing sub-modules for general practitioners and practitioners in the fields of Neurology, Physical Therapy, Orthodontics, Orthopedics and Home Health Care.
Printed Optical Mark Scannable Forms We supply all of the proprietary scan forms used by the DocumentPlus system. These forms are sold to all the users of the system on an ongoing basis and are the necessary keys to the use of the software.
Upgrades and Support
The company continues to revise and update the original DocumentPlus system to include additional features that have been under development since its first introduction. The company charges its users an annual fee which entitles them to any upgrade issued during the year, telephone technical support, on-line support as needed during that year.
MARKETPLACE
The marketplace that we are pursuing is the Medical Correspondence and Documentation sector of the healthcare industry. The U.S. Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) stated in the Health Care Financing Review, fall 1997 issue, that in 1996, $60.9 billion was spent on administrative costs alone. We estimate that of these costs, approximately 30% is directly related to producing the correspondence and documentation which are required of doctors on a regular basis. We believe this 30% is an industry worth $18.3 billion per year.
Presently, the healthcare industry is under tremendous pressure to reduce costs while feeling the impact of growing paperwork demands placed on practitioners by the federal government, managed care networks and private third party insurance companies. We believe that since our DocumentPlus solution saves the doctor and staff 90% of the time they would normally use to complete paperwork, we could naturally acquire a large portion of the market share for our products.
Currently, healthcare providers must utilize word processors and dictation equipment to fulfill their medical correspondence and documentation requirements. We believe that a higher quality of finished product can be achieved in a tenth of the time it would normally take by using our DocumentPlus solution. Normally for a new high technology product to succeed in the marketplace, it must demonstrate a 30% Price/Performance advantage over the present established methods. Our product has a 90% advantage over any other competing product available. Our clients tell us that the DocumentPlus system is saving them 3 to 4 hours per day. The doctors state that instead of spending hours writing letters and reports, DocumentPlus is doing 90% of the work, only requiring them to review or specifically modify the DocumentPlus system's output. Their clinics are able to have all the patient's documentation, medical records, billing reports, referring doctor reports, attorney letters, and insurance consultation letters ready within minutes of seeing the patient to send via the internet, FAX, or regular mail.
MARKETING
We currently sell DocumentPlus in three simple but effective ways:
Medical meetings and seminars. All over the country, usually at least once a week, there are medical conventions for various specialties being held by state associations and other groups. During 1999, we will be attending approximately 70 conferences where we lecture to physicians and teach documentation as part of their continuing education requirements. The conferences are sponsored by physician management groups who recommend our DocumentPlus solution. The larger meetings usually include a trade show where we demonstrate our system to the professionals in attendance. Medical trade publications. Most physicians receive trade journals tailored to their specialties which inform them of current healthcare trends, new medical knowledge, additional documentation requirements, and new products on the market which help make their lives easier. During the past forty-eight months, numerous articles have been published in the various journals regarding the effectiveness of the DocumentPlus solution. We intend to publish additional articles in these journals throughout 1999 and 2000. Word of mouth. This phase of marketing, and the one we are most proud of, represents the increasing number of referrals from our many satisfied customers. Referrals tell us that not only are the doctors happy with our time-saving solution, but also that they are telling their colleagues how pleased they are. We intend to expand this phase exponentially with the completion of the next phase of marketing which consists of a videotape that includes testimonials from clinicians and healthcare providers who are currently using the DocumentPlus system.
HOW DOCUMENTPLUS WORKS
The process begins with the patient completing a Health Questionnaire form. Various other new patient intake forms, such as Automobile Accident Questionnaires, Accident /Injury Questionnaires, or any one of a series of Outcome Measure forms are additionally completed as needed. The forms, when read by an optical scanner, will combine together to generate clinically precise medical records available to the attending healthcare provider prior to seeing the patient.
The healthcare provider and/or their staff will then complete a Clinical Evaluation exam form and Radiographic form, or Clinical Re-Evaluation form depending upon the patient's phase of treatment. Also, Daily Note forms are completed on a visit-by-visit basis for daily record-keeping. Within seconds, the completed forms can be scanned into the DocumentPlus system. Just as quickly, the system integrates, reviews for input procedures, stores for future use, and exports the information to practice management software. When needed, the system can generate letters and narratives in layman's terms for the patient, in legal terms for attorneys, or in a format to send to referring physicians and insurance companies. The healthcare provider's valuable time that was previously spent on doing paperwork is essentially freed-up to deal with what's most important…treating the patient.
