*Globalstar building penetration* Yes, cdmaOne is great at building penetration - better than GSM at the same frequencies. Multipath is good for cdmaOne, bad for GSM. The Globalstar satellites will be good at low angles but when they are overhead, will be hopeless = can't penetrate 5 floors of concrete and steel.

Reception in buildings for Globalstar will only be good while a satellite is in sight which will only be fairly reliable after there are more constellations in orbit so that there are perhaps 8 satellites in view. When there are 8 in view, there is a good chance that one of them will be shining into the part of the building where you are.

But with the first 48 satellites, it wouldn't be good. Hence the contradiction. Initially [for at least 3 years] Globalstar usually won't beat terrestrial cellphone service because of the shadows if not the price and the handset size.

But there are heaps of terrestrial coverage holes so there are Australians in the outback and Kiwis in the bush who would like a Globalstar phone to fill in the gaps.

Sorry I was unclear, I hope it is now.
