A CORPORATE UPDATE FROM BILLSERV.COM CHAIRMAN, MICHAEL LONG
The following update provides the latest activities at billserv.com, which I believe not only reflect the strong progress that our company is making in the Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) market, but also demonstrates the momentum that the industry continues to experience as a whole.

On Friday, Feb. 12, billserv.com hosted an EBPP symposium in San Antonio, attended by representatives from several of the major industry sectors that have an interest in the future of the EBPP market, namely banking and financial services, utilities, media and other billers.

Leading the roster of guest speakers was Jan Peterson, Director of Strategic Alliances for CheckFree Corporation, who commented favorably on billserv.com's total bill presentment and payment solution.

Peterson stated, "If you want to do EBPP, then billserv.com will get you into the game with a very robust solution. We really like the billserv.com strategy to create critical mass adoption through their geographical marketing model; it is one in which everyone wins - the biller and the consumer."

Other speakers included Chip Wickenden, billing council president of the National Automated Clearing House Association; and David S. Jones, billserv.com's senior vice president of strategic planning and marketing. The event was moderated by Diamond, Warkenthien & Swindall, a San Antonio-based sales development organization.

We outlined four goals for the symposium, and judging from participant feedback and direct conversations with billers, we achieved them:

· Educate attendees on the current state of the EBPP industry and its future direction

· Emphasize to the biller community that EBPP is an important service they should address collectively, which will ultimately help intensify consumer adoption rates from today's 5-7 percent range to the 40 percent range as projected by research firm PSI International

· Help the local billing community understand billserv.com's value proposition of enabling small- to medium-sized billers the opportunity to engage in EBPP services

· mmondayClarify that billserv.com and CheckFree are not competitors, but instead are complementary business allies that provide tremendous value to billers and their consumer base

Finally, I'd like to express my appreciation to the companies that supported billserv's EBPP symposium with their attendance: USAA, City Public Service, San Antonio Water Systems, Paragon Cable, San Antonio Express-News, Arthur Andersen, Frost National Bank, Broadway National Bank, San Antonio Retail Merchants Association, and Holmes and Shaw.

We'd also like to note that billserv.com recently contracted with Davis.Comm Inc., a public relations agency that specializes in helping companies in the high technology and Internet markets, to manage billserv.com's media and analyst relations program. Davis.Comm also represents Upside Media, publishers of UPSIDE magazine, and Upside Events, the conference division of Upside Media, among others. Davis.Comm brings experience in the EBPP market through previous work with an electronic bill presentment company. Based in San Francisco,
Davis.Comm is a strategic partner of Alexander Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide.
