JamesT:

I wish I could have been more positive about ITGR. I've been in your position more times than I can count. I guess that's what makes a trader "seasoned".

You asked an interesting question about time frames. I'll give you my answer but I'm willing to bet that there are as many different answers to that question as there are traders. <g>

Position hold: Overnight to two weeks.
Intermediate hold: Up to six months
Long term hold: Over six months.

JamesT - Firstly, welcome to the thread, glad to have you aboard and out of the closet. :)

Poet makes a good point, there are many different interpretations of the different levels of trades.

I pretty much agree with Poet except I see intermediate as 1 month to 6 months. Often times I also see position trades as open ended on the back side. I usually use 2 weeks as the backend with the possibility of an extension of another 2 weeks to take it up to a month. Anything over a month qualifies as an intermediate hold, or to put it another way, a position trade gone bad.

So:

Day Intraday Only!
Position: 1 day - 2 weeks
Ext. Position 2 - 4 weeks
Intermediate 1 - 6 months
Long 6+ months

Good luck
