Tom,

I've seen it alleged, more than once, where a virus can infiltrate a system if you OPEN an e-mail. I don't have any first-hand experience with that but that is an example of where you want to delete without opening.

guess it's not that important to me that you see the point. you don't give the impression that you want to help. you sound more like you prefer to argue. maybe i misunderstood.

"If you just don't want to see the messages which have been downloaded onto your computer, who cares, just hit the delete button as they come up."

i wish it were that easy. but the delete button is grayed out until a message is highlighted. and as i've said, one click on one of my messages (to highlight it) opens it.
