They should believe you ...

... having a high-end server and workstation business could prove to be a crucial determinant of their continued success.

With Emachines selling $399 PCs ... many of which will be used to surf the web (operating systems and browsers are free) ... I'd be looking toward faster, more reliable servers than NT ... running ... (drum roll) ... Linux. (Bass drum ... ba dum dum ... rim shot ... cymbal.)

I'm long on Dell. But the world isn't standing still waiting for MSFT and INTC to call the shots.

The DELL model will work with any operating system and any chip.

I see Merced servers running Linux and being sold by Dell.

Best of luck.

'Thin-Client Vs Fat ones'-Don't put everything in 'thin' leave some with the fat-one.

Since you seem to be a big believer in this 'thin-client' business and
everything I thought you may like this article on the subject.
=============================================

..'More impressive, however, than Jain's content plans is his candor when addressing the bare-boned truth about the how popular thin clients and portable information devices will be. "We don't really know which device will be dominate in the future, so we just bet on all of them," he says...

Between industry buzz and consumer reality, Jain's bet may be the safest one until the shift from PCs to other things sorts itself out a little more clearly...'
