I still think "preventative" is a noun, and "preventive" is an adjective. But I don't have time to look it up now.

"Needless lengthenings of established words due to oversight or caprice..."

Thank you for stumbling over my pet peeve: The use of "due to" when one means "because of." This egregious misuse is becoming widespread in the fashion of a contagious disease, thanks to the sloppy media types who think it sounds more important.
