I suppose bagging would have certain advantages. A seal can be put on the bags. At final destination if the bag is not broken and the seal is not broken the integrity of the sample should not be in question.
Bagging would permit transport by flat decks, low beds and "banana boats". Banana boats are odd looking fuel tankers that have a flat deck on top for flexibility in getting back hauls.(very popular in Northern ALberta) Flat decks might be more practical for hauling in equipment than gravel boxes.
In addition to sealing, each bag could be individually tagged with specific location and particulars and prevent any confusion in the final analysis.
If there were any accidents or turnovers on the way, bagging might prevent the loss, contamination or mixing of the ore.

Hi Denis

No I couldn't get any details regarding these shipments but after seeing slides of the mini bulk shipment and hearing RT talk about the security involved I'm pretty sure that's what will be done. The office won't even confirm the Lupin location for processing.

As Walt says Lytton did process a bulk through that plant, at least most of it. I seem to recall that for whatever reason they stopped processing when they had enough diamonds to evaluate. I hear Lytton may be drilling again on their property so there's lots going on.

Security is a real concern in everybody's mind. Mpv/DeBeers are bringing the evaluators to the diamonds I hear rather than the other way around, and obviously they won't do that until the whole thing is processed. All will be revealed in the fullness of time.

Cheers
