Interesting article on how Steve Case proved all his techno critics wrong in building AOL - and how the market is only partially penetrated - in the US only 25% have internet access, meaning lots of room to grow the market and company - FWIW at audioinvestor.com

Vendit, I agreed. There are things to consider:

(1) There is no free lunch, your may have free access but you
lose freedom of 'surfing', you gain annoyance, I think the
'internet culture' is 'freedom', I don't watch TV much and I
don't read Newspaper or magazine anymore because they 'force'
me to 'view' their view, but web surfing is my choice!

(2) My deepest concern for AOL is hoping that they grow their
e-commerce related revene fast and subscription fee become less than
10% of their total revnue in the future.

(3) As we discussed before on this thread, 'free internet access for
all' is not likely in the near future but may become reality in
the long run, why? ADVITISEMENT pays for eyeballs, not enough eyeballs rewarded small fees, 'free access' cannot gether enough
eyeballs fast enough to grow their sponsorship, they need a lot of
capital to setup phone hubs around, everywhere? I don't think
Bill Gates can even aford that.

(4) Like I said before, the day all the telephone companies and all
the PC makers are teamed up to offer free-for-all is the day
I'll seek other stocks to own.
