Ancor makes a 64 port switch:

The one they are advertising here is the previous quarter speed switch. Notice that even in the older switch, the switched backplane allows for maximum throughput. I think that the MKII technical specs page used to comment about a 64 port switch, but I didn't save any of the older versions. I have an advertising pamphlet from the 1998 shareholders' meeting entitled "GigWorks MKII Fibre Channel Switch" that states:

"Multi-stage scalability to 192 fabric ports with a 16 port switch and 3,072 ports with a 64 port switch".

All of this certainly doesn't mean that EMC couldn't make its own 64 port switch or put more of a competitor's ASICs in the same cabinet.
