Some CC notes.
The conference was quite long compared to previous ones so I do not have all the details, just points of interest I picked up. If you also heard the CC and there are inaccuracies please let me know.

First Ron started the CC by commenting on the recent stock price drop. He said "at the time of the drop I was in Europe and was stunned at the news". He said "WIND always uses very conservative planning techniques and that this has served the company well over the last 5 years". Perhaps the drop was an overreaction to there conservative nature.

I20
----
1. I20 was now an integral part of NGIO
2. Sold 25 I2O seats in Q4, 90 for the year.
3. Over 300 new I20 SIG members since Nov
4. I20 is now building up a head of steam and that given time it would be a "absolute winner"
5. Revenue for the year was low to mid single digit millions.
6. Expects a definite increase in the June time frame.
7. Intel taking a more aggressive role in the I20 SIG.
8. MS released there OSM for I20 mid 98.
9. As the volume of StrongARM I20 chips increases beyond the original contacted volume with Digital all I20 chips will be treated like i960 i.e. about $1.50 per chip.
10. The picture painted of I20 matches up almost exactly with that outlined by Allen.

OSEK
--------
1. Ron believes the OSEK standard will become world wide soon.
2. Very encouraged by the response to "Tornado for Automotive" so far.
3. BMW is a customer of WIND but at the moment it is more to do with test and monitoring equipment in its facilities.
4. Ron also mentioned that VxWorks is used in about 60-70% of Japanese in car Navigation systems and therefore about 50% of the world in car Nav systems use VxWorks. He also sees these in car Nav systems morphing into complete in car computer systems (thin clients) which for example will retrieve map data not from CD's but from the Internet.

DSP
-----
1. DSP chips are converging to the point where they include both DSP and a microprocessor on the same chip. This makes DSP a better fit with the Tornado environment. TI was given as an example.
2. DSP is gaining momentum. WIND is very excited about this

Embedded NT
-----------------
1. Basically a repackage of NT for systems with no keyboard or mouse. Only runs on Pentium systems.
2. Not an RTOS
3. Only used on very high end systems.

Windows CE
----------------
1. So far Windows CE has had no material effect on WIND. Embedded engineers understand the virtues of WIND's products.
2. Not an RTOS.

Misc
------
1. With Java WIND has had 150 design wins. Ron thinks WIND is the company best placed to benefit from Java when it takes off.
2. VxWorks is the default OS for all NCI set top box products.
3. Graphics (Zinc, HTML, etc.) products have had about 100 design wins.
4. Demand for Professional services in the embedded area is infinite compared to supply.

Not mentioned
------------------
1. The Cisco announcement at the start of Q4. Perhaps I am missing something here ?

Over-all
---------
Very positive. WIND appear to be into everything. Internet, DSP etc, etc, etc.... Hopefully the stock will recover soon.

Regards
JC.
